Non-Steroidal Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injections

Non-Steroidal Trigger Point Injections (NSTPI) are a type of interventional pain management technique that involves injecting a solution into the trigger points of the muscles to reduce swelling and pain.

Trigger points are tight knots that can cause pain and discomfort, and NSTPI is used to target these points to provide relief.

NSTPI is commonly used to treat both acute and chronic pain conditions and can be used LITERALLY head to toe for conditions such as:

Before undergoing NSTPI, patients consult with on of our healthcare providers and undergo a comprehensive evaluation to determine the cause of their pain and ensure that NSTPI is the appropriate treatment.

This involves a physical examination, imaging tests, and a review of the patients medical history. NSTPI at Coastal MD consists of a combination of local anesthetics and a holistic anti-inflammatory medication called SARAPIN.

After a physical examination of the area of pain or discomfort, trigger points are then identified by using ultrasound imaging and then the medication is injected directly into the trigger point of the muscle, causing the fibers to relax.

NSTPI is considered safe and effective, with virtually no side-effects and a low risk of complications. However, as with any medical procedure, there are some risks involved, such as infection, bleeding, and potentially an allergic reaction to the solution used.

NSTPI are recommended to be done every week for several consecutive weeks in order to achieve a long lasting effect and to provide the best relief possible.

This is often followed with a prescribed medical massage by a licensed medical massage therapist, who is then able to better disperse the medication into the surrounding muscle tissue. This not only creates longer lasting relief, but also targets and releases other areas of trigger points in the surrounding area.

We practice the technique of using TPI (Trigger Point Injections) and Medical Massage with our Licensed Medical Massage Therapists. Call today to schedule your consultation with one of our healthcare providers at Coastal MD!

SARAPIN is a FDA approved injectable analgesic derived from the pitcher plant. SARAPIN assists in the body’s natural healing process to relieve both muscular and neuropathic pain.

The Benefits of 100% Natural Non- Steroidal Trigger Point Injections with Medical Massage

SARAPIN substance comes from the nectar of the commonly-known Pitcher Plant, a plant often recognized for its healing qualities. We use it for trigger point injections instead of steroidal injections.

SARAPIN has proven it’s harmless yet effective and no adverse events have been associated with it’s use. The analgesic properties are thought to stop the pain signals between the injured muscles and the nerves. This targeted action effectively manages pain by acting on the sensory nerves, without any effect on motor nerves, with no tissue destruction or systemic reactions, and without any change in skin sensation.

SARAPIN is the safe alternative to narcotics and steroidal injections that help with chronic and acute pain that can affect your day to day behavior and activities.
